A spectacular tropical bloom
The Torch ginger is a tropical plant recognizable by its large colored bracts that are often mistaken for petals. The real flowers, smaller and tubular, appear between these bracts. This function is also found in other tropical plants such as Alpinia (Alpinia purpurata) Or the Crepe ginger, where the most visible parts are not the flowers.
Highly appreciated for its bright colors, this plant attracts many pollinators such as hummingbirds. It perfectly illustrates the diversity of flowering plants visible in tropical botanical gardens.
