The Rocktrumpet includes numerous species native to the tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. These plants, belonging to the Apocynaceae family, are primarily vines or climbing plants, recognizable by their trumpet-shaped flowers. Many hybrids and cultivars are now grown as ornamental plants.

Rocktrumpets (Mandevilla spp.) are primarily prized for their highly decorative blooms. Their trumpet-shaped flowers can be pink, red, white, or yellow, depending on the species, hybrid, or variety. They stand out against generally green, glossy foliage, giving the plant its lush appearance.

The Rocktrumpet is native to the Americas and shows significant diversity in tropical America. Many of its members develop long stems that allow them to climb by using surrounding vegetation for support. However, numerous horticultural selections account for the variety of forms found in gardens today, with some having a more compact or bushy habit.

In the tropical climate of Guadeloupe, warmth allows Rocktrumpet to maintain a long growth period and produce flowers throughout the year when conditions are favorable. They particularly enjoy bright light as well as well-drained soil.
